Trip Overview

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most diverse and rewarding trekking journeys, offering an incredible combination of mountain scenery, cultural richness, and changing landscapes. This classic trek circles the Annapurna Massif and takes you through remote villages, deep river valleys, alpine forests, and high mountain passes. It is especially famous for crossing Thorong La Pass (5,416m), one of the highest trekking passes in the world.

The trek usually begins from the lower hills and gradually follows the Marsyangdi River valley, passing through traditional villages such as Chame, Pisang, and Manang. Along the way, trekkers experience a unique blend of cultures influenced by both Hindu and Tibetan traditions. The scenery changes dramatically each day, starting from green hills and terraced farmland, and moving into dry, rugged landscapes surrounded by snow-covered peaks.

A key highlight of the trek is the acclimatization stop at Manang, a beautiful mountain village that helps trekkers prepare for higher altitudes. After proper acclimatization, the trail continues toward Thorong La Pass, the most challenging and rewarding point of the journey. From the top, trekkers can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.

After crossing the pass, the trail descends to the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath, a place respected by both Hindus and Buddhists. The trek then continues through the Kali Gandaki valley, the deepest gorge in the world, with stunning views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is suitable for trekkers who want to experience both natural beauty and cultural diversity. It does not require technical climbing, but good physical fitness and proper acclimatization are important. Comfortable teahouse accommodation is available throughout the route, making it accessible and enjoyable.

This trek offers a complete Himalayan experience, combining dramatic landscapes, high mountain adventure, and authentic local culture. The Annapurna Circuit Trek remains one of the best and most unforgettable trekking routes in Nepal.
